At the Portland Cohousing Conference held in June 2019, one of the “forming community” workshops challenged each of the attendees to create a one sentence vision. And so was born: “Beautiful farm seeking cohousing group to ensure long term stewardship of the land…”

Chuck Durrett of McCamant and Durrett Architects was engaged to perform a feasibility study, and visited the property in November, 2019. His recommendation was that two smaller (~20 unit) communities would be preferable to one giant 40+ unit community.  The attached sketch is just to stimulate thinking – the real site design will be done when a good portion of the future residents are onboard and involved.  

The only thing lacking was a core group of cohousers to bring the dream to reality!
